On January 13 the DBC hosted its Nieuwjaarsborrel at the Ukama Gallery on Granville Island. What a fantastic attendance we had! A toast by our Consul General Sebastiaan Messerschmitt to a Happy, healthy and successful New Year, lots of drinks, bitterballen, oliebollen and other snacks made this the best networking event of the last couple of years.
If you were there: Thank you for making this event a success!
And a big thanks to Ukama Gallery for welcoming us to your beautiful gallery!
Recently – Monday 14 December – the Dutch Business Club had their AGM and as part off the elections off the Directors TJ decided to step down as president and Juul will be his successor. Minutes off the meeting will be shared later but we did not want to withhold this important change of the board from you. We, as board off directors, would like to thank TJ for his tireless effort into the Club and welcome Juul as President off Club.
After 3 years at the helm of the Dutch Business Club, I have decided to step down to make place for my successor, Juul Heijblom.
In the past three years, the DBC has seen a transformation to an organization with an emphasis on electronic data and information sharing, social media, and web presence. The organizational structure has been adjusted to cater to future growth where most, new, board members have a background in web development, digital marketing, and social media.
I will continue to help the DBC weather the Covid storm and beyond in the position of Director of Events. Juul brings a background in organizational management and customer relationship to the Club and it is therefor with great excitement and confidence that I pass on the torch to him.
I am looking forward to seeing the DBC continue to grow and serve the business community in BC and I hope to see all of you again soon at one of our events.

First off, all I want to thank TJ for his contribution and leadership in the past 3 years and we are very fortunate that TJ will stay with us in the role as event director.
I’m very excited and honored with my new role within the Dutch Business Club as President and to continue to work with the board members.
I will continue the path TJ has lead us and grow our Business Club to the next level. We want to be a business platform where people can find interesting connections, opportunities for personal and business growth as well as the Dutch Culture. We will do this by organizing interesting events, online content and social gatherings.
The past two years for me have been very instructive as I had several director roles within the DBC, which gave me the opportunity to get to know the Dutch Community within Greater Vancouver area. Together with the board, I’m looking forward to the next couple of years and hope to see you all at one off our events in the near future.
